B.MLS – Medical Laboratory Science
Overview
In the first two years of studies, we offer basic science courses, as well as pharmacology, physiology, anatomy and biochemistry. From the third year, we delve into core departmental courses such as medical microbiology, chemical pathology, haematology, blood group serology, immunology and histopathology.
Our Department of Medical Laboratory Science has accreditations from the National Universities Commission and the Medical Laboratory Science Practitioners of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Entry requirements
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination Entry Mode
Applicants seeking admission to the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Rhema University Nigeria through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination must have 5 O’ Level credits, which must include Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English Language, and Mathematics.
Direct Entry Mode
Applicants seeking Direct Entry admission must possess in addition to the minimum 5 O’ Level credit passes at the WASSCE, NECO SSCE, any of the following:

- Advanced level GCE in at least two relevant subjects
- Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Certificate
- Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) in relevant subjects
- National Diploma (ND) Upper Credit in relevant subjects
- Higher National Diploma (HND) Lower Credit in relevant subjects
- First degree in related fields
Career Prospects
Career prospects for graduates of Medical Laboratory Science abound in both private and government-owned laboratory facilities, as well as in teaching hospitals. Graduates can also pursue postgraduate studies in medical laboratory science. Also, with your practice licence from the Medical Laboratory Science Practitioners Council of Nigeria, graduates can set up their private medical laboratory science practice.
